Gustave Lorentz
Bergheim, Alsace
The Lorentz family cultivates its passion for wine in the middle of Bergheim, which is definitely the prettiest medieval town in the heart of Alsace. The Lorentz family has been living in Bergheim for more than two and a half centuries and have been in the winemaking business since 1836. Today they are the largest family owned producer in Alsace.
Charles Lorentz Sr. developed his vineyards on the hills of Altenberg de Bergheim, in the foothills of the Vosges Mountains. Today the Estate has grown to 32 hectares in this extraordinary terroir, with 1.5 hectares planted on the hills of the Grand Cru Kanzlerberg and 13 hectaresacres in the Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergheim. Today the winery is run by Georges Lorentz, who is proudly the seventh generation to manage this family business.
In 2009 Gustave Lorentz signed an official partnership with “Ecocert” to be organic certified for the entire 32 Ha of vineyards. A range of wine has been produced from organic grapes since vintage 2012.
