Echezeaux Grand Cru 2011
1.05 ha yielding 4000 bottles. Principal origins are Les Poulailleres and Echezeaux du Dessus, vines average 35 years. Bouquet: Ripe black cherry with forest floor overtones. Palate: expansive and thick but retaining great poise, distinguished, elegant tones on the finish.
Tasting Notes 2014: A weighty, powerful, muscular frame – though as with all in this Domaine, balanced by a delicate lightness of touch. Bright cherry fruit, heady aromas of undergrowth and mushroom mixed with small, red fruit berries. Lovely weight and soft, round tannins, closing up after a short time in the mouth into a firmer, more austere wine. Fantastic texture and great potential.
